Ja Rule gave only one interview while promoting his latest album, to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, claiming he wanted to patch things up with 50 Cent. Well, so much for that idea: The revenge obsession here is stifling. Blood in My Eye consists almost entirely of antagonistic digs at 50, Eminem and Dr. Dre, none of which are terribly sharp (“I’m-a find out/Where Em Laden’s hiding and bomb him”). To prove there’s muscle behind the taunts — and likely in response to 50’s needling that loverman Ja was just a big softie — he scraps his chart-topping, thug-lovin’ duet side altogether (or maybe his hitmaking partner Ashanti, totally absent here, scrapped him). Poor Ja — he’s ridiculed as a lover, clawless as a fighter.
