Jeff Tweedy
Sunken Treasure: Live in the Pacific Northwest Nonesuch

If Jeff Tweedy ever decides to curtail the 200-nights-a-year tour schedule he maintains fronting Wilco to take up residency in Vegas, hes got the breezy stage banter down pat. Shot during his solo tour this past February, this largely performance-based doc finds Tweedy in good spirits, mining his recent rehab stint for stand-up material and returning his songs increasingly subject to virtuoso wankery by his neo-jazzbo bandmates to their alt-country roots. Laminated Cat, from the first Loose Fur album, especially benefits from the sparse arrangement, holding its own alongside Wilco standards, while Tweedys self-effacing charisma transforms simple, intimate performance footage into something almost cinematic.
