Far more resonant than it was upon its May theatrical release, no thanks to the endless horror that was to come on September 11. Still, Michael Bay’s Ben Affleck-fronted retelling of Japan’s attack on a U.S. naval base remains a bloated, unlovely affair, whose director proves much more adept at showing the attack from a bomb’s-eye view than from the human perspective. The DVD includes a documentary.
