Byrds
(Asylum/Wounded Bird)

McGuinn was still touring with a pickup band (Hillman even joined him at the end) when record executive David Geffen convinced the five original Byrds to reunite for an album. By then, they were all saving the good stuff for their solo records; hence this mishmash of leftovers, toss-offs and two Neil Young covers, dominated by David Crosby, who produced it to sound like a cheap imitation of CSNY. The chemistry of their early years is painfully absent—even the harmonies are phoned in. Unsurprisingly out of print.
