Gram Parsons, a restless rich kid who jetted around with the Rolling Stones and OD’d at the age of 26, loved country music for its haunted harmonies and fear of sinfulness. Post-Byrds, he formed the Flying Burrito Brothers. The best among many compilations, this replays their ’69 and ’70 LPs in original order, mixing the Stones with steel guitar and finding dolor and doom.
