After dabbling in the psychedelia, the Stones reconnected with their skanky muse. Banquet was packed with smutty talk and images of late-'60s social upheaval. At the center was the menacingly groovy "Sympathy for the Devil," in which Jagger played the Dark Lord as debauched, debonair man-about-town, a persona he liked enough to keep for several years.
