Wings’ debut was underwhelming and undercooked—10 so-so songs by a band that had yet to cohere. Beatles­ologists read “Dear Friend” (originally recorded during Ram sessions) as an attempt at reconciliation with Lennon. The CD reissue includes “Give Ireland Back to the Irish,” a ballsy 1972 protest single that was banned by the BBC.
