Initially credited to the mouth-cramming name “Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Frida” — manager Stig Anderson hadn’t come up with the acronym yet—the first ABBA album was slapped together to capitalize on the fabulous “Ring Ring,” which was simultaneously number 1 and number 2 on the Swedish charts (in two languages). The rest is interesting mostly for its hints of future greatness: clever production and music-hall-influenced songwriting.
