Blue Moves
(MCA)
Release Date: 01/01/1976 12:00
Another double LP, and his first studio album since 1971 that didnt reach number 1 (even though it featured Graham Nash and David Crosby on backing vocals). Consequently, its much underrated. Its a mature, sprawling work, particularly the epic Tonight, but it has an undercurrent of tension. The heavy-drinking Taupin was starting to write about himself instead of for John, who in turn was burned out by the burden of being the worlds most famous pop star and having just admitted to what he called his bisexuality.
