Gimme Back My Bullets
(MCA Records)
Release Date: 01/01/1976 12:00
Reviewed by Clark Collis
Rod Stewart producer Tom Dowd imposed order on a group that was now spending almost as much time behind bars as onstage (“Double Trouble” was inspired by Ronnie Van Zant’s eleventh spell in jail). Defiant but weary, the record tilts toward country and, in the case of “All I Can Do Is Write About It,” eco-awareness.

STANDOUT TRACKS: “Gimme Back My Bullets,” “Every Mother’s Son”
