Harrison’s first post-Beatle album was an explosion of pent-up energy, and it remains his greatest achievement. Liberated from the sidekick status he had endured with Lennon and McCartney, Harrison stunned everyone with a triple-LP feast of inspired songwriting, including his huge hit “My Sweet Lord.” While a few of the slighter songs are overwhelmed by Phil Spector’s colossal production, and the all-star jam session is indulgent, most of the music sounds deeply felt, by turns romantic and spiritual. A double-CD thirtieth-anniversary edition added yet more material.

STANDOUT TRACKS: “My Sweet Lord,” “All Things Must Pass,” “Isn’t It a Pity”
