Don't Quit Your Day Job: Cult Leaders

Waco Wacko

David Koresh
The late Branch Davidian sect leader headed not only a messianic cult but also a Christian-rock outfit under what was called “Messiah Productions.” One posthumous release, Voice of Fire, reveals Koresh to be a passable guitarist with a soulful if undeniably weedy voice, overloading his spacey folk songs with quasi-spiritual babble like “See the angel with a book in his hand/The Book of Daniel, it contains the eternal plan.”
Rockingest moment: As the Feds amassed on his doorstep in late February of 1993, Koresh continued rocking out with a power trio of fellow Davidians, defiant in the face of his impending fiery demise.
