Destiny's Child to Split Up
R&B group Destiny's Child have announced that they will split after their American tour this fall. Speaking onstage in Barcelona on June 11, Kelly Rowland announced that she and fellow band members Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams will soon go their separate ways. The following day the band issued a press statement to MTV which reads: "We have been working together as Destiny's Child since we were nine, and touring together since we were 14. After a lot of discussion and some deep soul searching, we realized that our current tour has given us the opportunity to leave Destiny's Child on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans, and each other."The female trio went on hiatus in 2001 to pursue solo projects, and reformed last year to release their fourth album, Destiny Fulfilled. The band will embark on the American leg of their "Destiny Fulfilled and Loving It" tour this summer before calling it quits after the final show in Vancouver on September 10.
