Bruce Springsteen Banned From Starbucks!
International coffeehouse Starbucks has refused to sell Bruce Springsteen's new album Devils & Dust. The megachain would not stock the album on the grounds that it contains potentially offensive lyrics in the song "Reno," which mentions prostitution and anal sex. However, Starbucks' claim is that the lewd lyrical content isn't the sole reason for not stocking the CD; they also plan to promote other upcoming bands.Speaking to Reuters, Ken Lombard, president of Starbucks Entertainment, said that although the decision was based on promoting other CDs, the risqué lyrics were also a consideration: "There were a number of factors involved. It [the lyrics] was one of the factors, but not the only reason."
Devils & Dust was released on April 26 and is the only Springsteen album to carry a parental advisory warning.
