Weird Band Alert: Orange Crush

So, a tribute act to a TV show?
Yes. The Berkeley, California, indie band writes songs inspired by the Fox drama’s high-income hijinks and easy-on-the-eyes stars.

How did they, like, hook up?
At law school, of course. Last year, at U.C. Berkeley’s School of Law, guitarist John Kim, 26, started The O.C. at Boalt, a fan club devoted to the show. There, he met bassist Anne Caitriona Wood, 27, and keyboardist Ilona Turner, 25.

Have they ever played in Orange County?
No, but they ended a San Diego gig with The O.C. theme song, “California,” and “150 kids sang along like it was the National Anthem,” says Kim.
