Don't Drink the Water: Dave Matthews Band Sued for Dumping Waste in River

The state of Illinois has filed a $70,000 lawsuit against the Dave Matthews Band based on allegations that the group's tour bus dumped 800 pounds of human waste onto a boat filled with passengers on the Chicago River below. More than 100 people in the tour boat were soaked in the sewage when a bus driver released the contents of his vehicle's waste tank through the grate in the Kinzie Street bridge. Passengers suffered nausea and vomiting, and five were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for tests.
Surveillance cameras led investigators to the band's tour bus. That state's lawsuit claims the act violated water pollution and public nuisance legislation.
