Closing Time: Friends Breaks Ryan Adams’ Heart

It’s all over. Monica and Chandler have twins and a house in the suburbs, Phoebe’s married, Ross and Rachel are back together and Joey’s, well, still Joey. On Thursday, May 6, as an estimated 51 million people watched, Friends ended its 10-year run on NBC.

Alt-country rocker Ryan Adams, deeply affected by the conclusion of one of his favorite sitcoms, closed his official site until further notice “in respect to Joey, Chandler, Monica, Ross, Rachel and Phoebe.” With the exception of a clickable gravestone that releases a floating skeleton and the aforementioned explanation, the site is black in mourning.

This statement comes only two days after the release of Adams’s fifth album, Love Is Hell.
