The Worst Duets We Know

4.  “Opposites Attract,” Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kat (1989)
It’s the oldest maxim in showbiz: Once you sing with a cartoon character, you set yourself on a path to becoming one, as Paula did during her occasionally coherent American Idol interludes. Untrue and potentially libelous rumor we’d like to start: MC Skat Kat was the nom de plume of a teenage Snoop Dogg, who switched critters after being wowed by Janeane Garofalo’s performance in The Truth About Cats & Dogs.

3. “You Shook Me All Night Long,” Celine Dion and Anastacia (2002)
We suppose you can ruin any song if you try hard enough. But this? The frequent “come on, girlfriend!” yelps are nothing if not a cry for help. Happily, Ms. Dion and her consort didn’t commit this atrocity to vinyl, meaning that it only lives on the Internet. What? The Internet is forever, you say? Uh-oh.
