Oasis
Oasis was originally formed in Manchester by friends Liam Gallagher (vocals), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass) and Tony McCarrol (drums). Liam's brother Noel joined Oasis as the group's songwriter and the band shot to stardom in both the U.S. and the U.K. on the strength of their debut album, 1994's
Definitely Maybe, which become the fastest-selling debut in British history. Their sound evokes a diverse range of earlier melodic British bands, including the Beatles and the Kinks, as well as guitar-driven acts like the Sex Pistols and the Stone Roses.
