Formed in 1985, GNR pushed hard rock into the mainstream and quickly became one of rocks biggest bands. Featuring Saul Hudson (a.k.a. Slash) and Izzy Stradlin on guitar, vocalist William Axl Rose, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Steven Adler, GNR signed with Geffen in 1986 and released their No. 1 album Appetite for Destruction in 87. Adler was fired in 1990 due to heavy drug use and replaced by the Cults Matt Sorum; GNR also added Dizzy Reed on keyboards. In 1991 they released Use Your Illusion I & II, two separate albums released on the same day. After numerous disagreements about the bands direction and the release of 1993s virtually ignored The Spaghetti Incident? Slash left to work on solo material, and Rose went into seclusion. Rose re-formed Guns N Roses with a completely new lineup in 2002, playing a few scattered concerts.Reviews
