Neil Diamond
Pop-rock singer-songwriter Neil Diamond was born on January 24, 1941, in Brooklyn. His first huge hit was the 1966 No. 1 single “I’m a Believer,” written for the Monkees. He emerged as a solo artist with Top 20 hits like “Cherry, Cherry,” “Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon,” “Sweet Caroline” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.” He became renown as a live performer, and his albums began going multiplatinum, including the soundtracks for Jonathan Livingston Seagull (1973) and The Jazz Singer (1980), in which he starred.
