Like fellow nü-metal bands Korn, Limp Bizkit and Slipknot, Disturbed combine an appreciation for metal's history with contemporary production techniques to compose dense, foreboding and hugely popular records. Formed in Chicago in 1997, David Draiman (vocals), Dan Donegan (guitar), Mike Wengren (drums) and Fuzz (bass) draw on their affinity for metal pioneers such as Queensryche, Pantera and Iron Maiden. Their debut album, 2000's multiplatinum The Sickness, earned them a large following that increased with their appearance on 2001's Ozzfest tour. Their follow-up, 2002's Believe, expanded their sound by adding more melody to the heaviness.Reviews
