Gainesville, Florida native Tom Petty, along with his band the Heartbreakers, started releasing jangle-pop reminiscent of the Byrds and Bob Dylan in 1976, and he has continued virtually uninterrupted ever since. Though Petty's music has changed and diversified over the years, he has had a near constant succession of hits and radio staples with and without the Heartbreakers, including "Free Fallin'," "Refugee" and "Mary Jane's Last Dance." Petty was also a member of the late '80s supergroup the Traveling Wilburys, which also featured Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.Reviews
