Slipknot

Nü-metal band Slipknot formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa. The band’s stage persona involved the nine members using the aliases 0 through 8 and wearing matching orange jumpsuits and creepy masks. They began to attract attention after they self-released Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. in 1996. After signing to Roadrunner Records, Slipknot released a self-titled album in 1999, which went platinum. The band’s intensive touring schedule helped build a dedicated fan base, broadened further when Slipknot performed on the Ozzfest tour. Slipknot’s second album, Iowa, released in 2001, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
