John Mayer briefly attended Boston's Berklee College of Music before moving to Atlanta. He released his acoustic-pop debut album, Inside Wants Out, in 1999 and became a fixture on the club circuit. Mayer signed with Aware/Colombia Records in 2000 and released his major-label debut, Room for Squares, which was produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews). The album went to No. 8 and the single "Your Body Is a Wonderland" won a Grammy for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. In 2003 Mayer released the live album Any Given Thursday and his third studio album, Heavier Things, which featured Roots drummer ?uestlove, jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove and pedal-steel virtuoso Greg Leisz.Reviews
