Born on May 25, 1964, in Manhattan to actress Roxie Roker and TV producer Sy Kravitz, rock and soul singer and multi-instrumentalist Lenny Kravitz grew up in Los Angeles and began performing in high school as Romeo Blue. He moved back to New York, where he scrapped his Prince-inspired Romeo image in favor of an early 70s retro look and sound. Kravitz burst onto the charts with his 1989 debut, Let Love Rule, led by the huge radio and MTV success of the title track.Reviews
