Janet Jackson
Born in Gary, Indiana, in 1966, Janet Damita Jo Jackson started singing with her already famous brothers in the Jackson 5 at a young age. Her preteen and teenage years brought acting roles on TV’s Good Times, Diff’rent Strokes and Fame. Jackson released two albums in the early ’80s, but it was 1986’s Control—which include the hits "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "Nasty" and "When I think of You"—that catapulted her into superstardom. Her third album, 1989’s Rhythm Nation 1814, which produced seven Top 5 hits, including "Miss You Much" and "Love Will Never Do (Without You)," sold over six million copies. In 1993 Jackson starred opposite Tupac Shakur in John Singleton’s Poetic Justice and released the multiplatinum janet., which included the smash single "That’s the Way Love Goes."
