Ani DiFranco
Anti-folk heroine Ani DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970, in Buffalo, New York. Developing a cult following, she founded Righteous Babe Records to distribute her tapes and traveled the country in a Volkswagen van. As her popularity multiplied through the ’90s, she rejected corporate label offers and played over 200 shows a year.
