Interpol
In 1998 guitarist-vocalist Daniel Kessler formed Interpol with fellow NYU students Carlos Dengler (bass, keyboards) and Greg Drudy (drums), adding Paul Banks on guitar and vocals. In early 2000 Sam Fogarino replaced the departing Drudy. Interpol’s somber ‘80s-era fashion and uncanny sonic resemblance to Joy Division made them NYC club staples, and in 2002 they signed with Matador and released Turn on the Bright Lights.
