Ben Harper

A native of Claremont, California, Ben Harper learned to play the acoustic slide guitar as a teenager, later making it his signature instrument. Heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Bob Dylan, Harper started playing gigs around L.A. before being signed to Virgin Records in 1992. His 1997 album, The Will to Live, introduced his backup band, the Innocent Criminals, and strengthened his fan base, especially on college campuses.
