Justin Timberlake
Memphis, Tennessee, native Justin Timberlake appeared on
Star Search when he was 11 and soon afterward joined the cast of the Disney Channel's
The New Mickey Mouse Club. In 1996 he and fellow Mouseketeer JC Chasez joined Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass and Joey Fatone to form 'N Sync, which quickly became one of the most popular boy bands of the '90s. The quintet won adulation from adolescent girls with smash hits such as "I Want You Back" and "Bye Bye Bye." Their self-titled solo debut (1998) sold millions, and their next effort,
No Strings Attached (2000), went double platinum in only one week. On the follow-up,
Celebrity (2001), Timberlake and Chasez cowrote most of the tracks. The following year, Timberlake branched off to pursue a solo career and released
Justified. The album, with production work from the Neptunes and Timbaland, went to No. 2 on the Billboard chart.
