Journey
One of the top late '70s–early '80s pop-rock bands, Journey formed in the San Francisco in 1973, with former Santana members Gregg Rolie on vocals and Neal Schon on guitar, George Tickner on guitar, ex-Steve Miller bassist Ross Valory and Tubes drummer Prarie Prince (soon to be replaced by Aynsley Dunbar). That lineup released three moderately successful albums, but the band really took off when singer Steve Perry joined in 1977 for Journey's fourth album, Infinity. After three successful albums, Journey released their biggest album, Escape, in 1981. Their first No. 1 album and fourth consecutive multiplatinum album, Escape included the hits "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Open Arms." The albums that followed continued to sell millions and produce hits; however, the group disbanded in 1989 after Schon and Cain left to join Bad English. Journey reunited for 1996's Trial by Fire, which included the hit "When You Love a Woman," but Perry departed soon afterward for health reasons and was replaced by Steve Augeri for 2001's Arrival.
