Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Kylie Minogue became the biggest-selling female pop singer in Australia and Europe in the 1990s. Minogue had already attained celebrity status from her role on the Australian soap opera Neighbours when she recorded a cover of "The Loco-Motion," which went to No. 1 in Australia. For her self-titled debut album (1988), she affected a girl-next-door image, but took on a sexier image for Rhythm of Love in 1990. Her 2001 album, Fever, was critically acclaimed and generated her first U.S. hit, "Can't Get You out of My Head." Her single "Love at First Sight" earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2002. Minogue has also appeared in a number of movies, including Cut in 2000 and Moulin Rouge! in 2001.Reviews
