Hailing from Boston, JoJo first appeared on Bill Cosby's show Kids Say the Darndest Things, delivering a performance that would land her a spot on The Oprah Winfrey Show and America's Most Talented Kid, and when she was only 13, a contract with Blackground Records. Her self-titled debut arrived in 2004, featuring the TRL-supported single "Leave (Get Out)."
