After toiling in country music obscurity for more than half a decade, Arkansas native Joe Nichols finally broke through with 2002's Man With a Memory. The album spawned the crossover hit "The Impossible," which found a home on both country and pop radio. In 2003, Nichols's perseverance was further rewarded with a trio of Grammy nominations and a nod by the Academy of Country Music, which named him Top New Male Vocalist.
