Jimmy Eat World
Jim Adkins (vocals, guitar), Tom Linton (vocals, guitar), Rick Burch (bass) and Zach Lind (drums) were childhood friends in Mesa, Arizona. As high school students, they played in a Metallica cover band together. They got noticed gigging around Tempe, Arizona, and released their first album, Static Prevails, in 1996. They came to be considered an emo band after the release of their second album, Clarity, in ’98.
