Brothers Jay (vocals) and Jeremy Popoff (guitar), Kevin Baldes (bass) and Allen Shellenberger (drums) formed this punk-pop outfit in Orange County, California, in 1990. They developed a sizable local following over the next several years and released their independent debut, Tripping the Light Fantastic, in 1997. They won national attention when their 1999 major-label debut yielded the modern-rock radio hit “My Own Worst Enemy.”
