Singer-songwriter Jason Kay (a.k.a. J.K.) was born on December 30, 1969, in Manchester, England, to jazz singer Karen Kay. With the exception of Kay, Jamiroquai has had a revolving roster. For their breakout 1992 release, Emergency on Planet Earth, the band consisted of keyboardist Toby Smith, bassist Stuart Zender, drummer Derrick McKenzie and vibraphonist Buchanan. The album went to No. 1 in the U.K., but the band was relatively unknown in the States until the success of 1996s Traveling Without Moving and its dance hit, Virtual Insanity.Reviews
