Macy Gray

Neo-soul songstress Macy Gray was born Natalie McIntyre on September 9, 1970, in Canton, Ohio. A classically trained pianist, she began singing while attending film school at the University of Southern California, when she filled in as vocalist during a demo recording for a friend’s band. Her 1999 debut, On How Life Is, was driven to triple platinum status by the heavy radio and MTV rotation of the Grammy-winning “I Try.” She released The Id in 2001.
