Iron Maiden
Steve Harris (bass), Tony Parsons (guitar), Doug Sampson (drums) and Paul DiAnno (vocals) formed the seminal heavy metal group Iron Maiden in London in 1976. Dennis Stratton replaced Parsons, but by 1981, he was replaced by Adrien Smith. And in 82 vocalist Bruce Dickinson replaced DiAnno, who had become a raging alcoholic. Despite being labeled Satanists and all the personnel changes, Iron Maiden remained together for more than two decades and outlasted many of their imitators.
