Master P
New Orleans rapper Master P (a.k.a. Percy Miller) sparked the Southern hip-hop explosion that opened doors for Outkast, Ludacris and others. With his No Limit record label, Master P released several late-'90s hits, including "Mr. Ice Cream Man" and "Make Em' Say Ugh!" and built the careers of other No Limit acts such as Silkk the Shocker, Tru, and his son, Lil' Romeo. He also ventured into film and TV, taking small roles in movies (
Gone in 60 Seconds, Hollywood Homicide) and acting, screenwriting, directing and producing a number of his own mostly straight-to-video movies (
I'm Bout It, Hot Boyz).
