Heart
The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson moved often before settling in Seattle. Ann joined bassist Steve Fossen, guitarist Roger Fisher and lead guitarist Mike Fisher in the Vancouver-based all-male hard rock ensemble Heart in 1970. After Nancy joined the band in 1974 they were signed to Canadian label Mushroom Records. Their debut album, 1975s
Dreamboat Annie, which included the hit singles "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man," eventually went platinum in the U.S.
Little Queen, released in 1977 by CBS subsidiary Portrait Records, also went platinum on the strength of the hit single "Barracuda." Following the success of their 1978 album,
Dog and Butterfly, Heart underwent some personnel changes and saw their popularity drop with the release of their next three albums
Bebe Le Strange (1980),
Private Audition (1982),
Passion Works (1983). In 1985 they shot back up the charts with their self-titled album, which produced four Top 10 hits, including "What About Love" and "These Dreams," and sold over five million copies.
