The Southern California punk-metal outfit the Offspring Bryan "Dexter" Holland (vocals, guitar) and Greg Kriesel (bass), Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman (guitar) and Jim Benton (drums) released their self-titled debut album in 1989. The success of California punk bands Green Day and Rancid opened radio up to the Offspring's blend of punk power-chords and surf rock riffs and the group exploded on alternative radio with "Come Out and Play" and "Self Esteem" from their third album, Smash (1994). The band scored another hit in '98 with "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" from the album Americana and in 2000 with and "Original Prankster" from the album Conspiracy of One.Reviews
