Andre Benjamin (a.k.a. Dre and Andre 3000, born on May 27, 1975) and Antoine Patton (a.k.a. Big Boi, born on February 1, 1975) went to high school together in the borough of East Point, outside of Atlanta. Outkast released their first single, 1993’s “Players Ball,” right out of high school. They’re part of the Dirty South movement in rap, yet Outkast stands apart with more intricate production and word play. All of their albums have gone platinum (1994’s Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, 1996’s ATLiens, 1998’s Aquemini), with their fourth album, Stankonia, reaching triple platinum status in 2000.
