P.O.D.
The San Diego, California-based P.O.D. (Payable on Death) started making their reggae-influenced rap-metal in 1992. Though its members are born-again Christians, P.O.D. isn’t strictly a Christian rock band. Guitarist Marcos and drummer Wuv joined Sonny (a hip-hop MC) and bassist Traa, and released three EPs on their own Rescue Records: Brown, Snuff the Punk and POD Live. Signing with Atlantic Records in 1998, they released 1999’s The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, which went platinum and earned them a spot on Ozzfest 2000 and the MTV Campus Invasion tour. Several of their songs have been included on movie soundtracks, most notably Little Nicky’s "School of Hard Knocks." P.O.D. released Satellite in 2001, with the hit single "Youth of a Nation." Marcos left the band in 2003 and was replaced by Living Sacrifice guitarist Jason Truby.
