Green Day
Singer-guitarist Billy Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt were friends as kids and formed this pop-punk revival band in Berkley, California, in 1988, adding Tre Cool on drums in 1991. Green Day’s popularity exploded with their major-label debut (and third album) Dookie. Driven by the smash hits “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” Dookie sold over 10 million copies internationally and earned them the 1994 Best Alternative Music Performance Grammy.Reviews
