Gene Simmons (born Chaim Witz in Haifa, Israel, August 25, 1949) has evolved over his 30-plus-year career from being the blood-spewing bass player of one of the biggest-selling rock acts of the '70s to being a savvy businessman. He's hawked everything from the Kiss Kasket to Kiss Kondoms and created the men's magazine Gene Simmons' Tongue. In the '80s, as Kiss's popularity began to wan, Simmons began pursuing an acting career (Runaway, Wanted: Dead or Alive, Wish You Were Dead).In 2004 Simmons released his second solo album (the first came in 1978), Asshole.
