After the demise of Nirvana, drummer Dave Grohl packed up his kit and formed the Foo Fighters. Their debut release was actually an album Grohl had recorded before forming the band, on which he played all of the instruments. It was released as the Foo Fighters' self-titled debut in 1995, and the album spawned the hits "Big Me," "I'll Stick Around" and "This Is a Call." This was followed by 1997's The Colour and the Shape and 1999's There Is Nothing Left to Lose, both of which featured successful singles. The band has been a consistent rock presence for nearly a decade, but its makeup has been plagued by inconsistency since its inception. One by One, released in 2002, was the first Foo Fighters album to feature the same roster for a second consecutive album: Grohl, bassist Nate Mendel, drummer Taylor Hawkins and guitarist Chris Shiflett. Along with Foo Fighters, Grohl has been involved in several other projects, including playing drums with Queens of the Stone Age and Tenacious D and creating metal supergroup Probot.Reviews
