Fats Domino
Rollicking singer and boogie-woogie pianist Fats Domino was born on February 26, 1928, in New Orleans. The hits began in 1955 with “Ain’t That a Shame.” He continued turning rowdy barrelhouse R&B into pop gold and totaled 35 Top 40 singles, including “Blueberry Hill.” Fats — whose songs have been covered by John Lennon, Ted Nugent, Sheryl Crow and Cheap Trick — earned his legendary status by showing how relaxed rock could be.
