Q-Tip

A founding member of A Tribe Called Quest in 1988 and effectively the group's leader, Q-Tip (born Jonathan Davis) appeared on De La Soul's innovative 3 Feet High and Rising (1989) and made four successful albums with A Tribe Called Quest before the group disbanded in 1998. His first solo project, Amplified (1999), went gold. In 2002 he released the critically well-regarded Kamaal the Abstract, a heady genre fusion on which he devoted more energy to acting as vocalist, musical director and producer.
